Income inequality is increasing in Sweden and high earners are flocking to live in Stockholm, exhibiting the already perceived view that income equality myth in Sweden had died long ago.

Figures from Statistic Sweden, developed for radio Sweden, has shown that 96 of the 100 postcode areas where people earn the most in the country. It also shows the typical attitude of the rich as they tend to stick with each other and loath mixing up with the poor who happen to also live in the same city

"One sees in Stockholm that the rich have a strong tendency to clump together, they would like to live with other rich. It reinforces this pattern, you get some postcode areas where incomes are very high, "said Bo Malmberg, professor of human geography, to radio Sweden.

Meanwhile, the capital, also contain about twenty of the areas where residents have the lowest incomes.
The rich have also increased their incomes ten times more than the poor. Of the 100 places where incomes were less in 2009, the average monthly income increased by Skr2,000 compared with the corresponding areas a decade earlier.

But in areas where people earned most in 2009, the average income has moved by SEK 22 000 higher than the corresponding areas a decade earlier, reported Radio Sweden.

"We are seeing how all over the world the wealthiest groups' incomes are increasing. These people who earn a lot in Stockholm could be those who are active in the global market. The global effect on the economy contributes to increased income inequality, "said Jane Malmberg, professor of human geography, to Radio Sweden
