Strong and growing opposition to the Norway’s EU membership

Monday, 31 October 2011
Not long ago, support for Norway joining the EU was growing comfortably in Norway but suddenly and gradually, the opponents for Norway’s EU membership has been growing.

Now, only twelve percent of the country thinks that joining the EU makes sense and 72 percent flagrantly say no to any EU union, according to a recent poll conducted by polling organisation, Synovate for the Norwegian Daily, Dagbladet.

“For the 'yes' side, this is like walking in a monster hill in the Tour de Ski without poles,” says No to the EU leader Henning Olaussen.

65 percent of sympathizers drawn from Norway’s Moderate Conservatives - who advocated for membership - are also opposed, to it now according to the measurement.
