The number of Swedish farmers in decline and such decline is growing

The amount of farming in Sweden decreased from 250.3 thousand in 1886 to 71700 in 2007.
From 1930 to 2007, the number people employed in agriculture changed from 699,000 to 177,000.

The total arable land area decreased from 3.8 million hectares in 1919 to over 2.6 million hectares 2007
Yet, agricultural production has continued to increase or remained at least at a high levels,  as shown in a new book from the Board of Agriculture and Statistics, "Agriculture in Figures 1866-2007".
