Swedish Communes spent Skr12 billion in 2010 on welfare benefits

Swedish municipalities last year paid a total of SEK 11.8 billion in welfare benefits and economic assistance, including introductory benefits to refugees. That was is an increase of four percent compared with 2009, according to the Swedish immigration Board in a statement.
Of the Skr11.8 billion, Skr2.2 billion was paid in compensation to the new arrivals - a decrease of six percent compared with last year.
