Suspected unauthorised foreign submarine seen outside Gothenburg, Sweden

The Swedish military scrambled today in reaction to a foreign submarine activity suspected west of the port of Gothenburg.
The Swedish Armed Forces on their website that information came on the observation, which should have been made by a credible informant. It is currently under investigation by the Navy and had sent more ships to the area.

“The area is also an area with heavy traffic, so it is important that we go out and provide information on what we do,” say marine surveyor Jan Törnqvist in the press release.

Third Naval Warfare Flotilla in Karlskrona and fourth naval squadron and the Amphibian regiment at Berga outside Stockholm are in place in Gothenburg with ships and personnel to examine the information.

“In such situation, we want at all, do not comment on what the observation is” said marine inspector Jan Törnqvist who is also Naval tactical commander.
“It will submit reports at regular intervals as we have to analyze before we can say anything.”
