Stockholm's economy stronger than in ten years
Thursday, 03 February 2011
Sweden’s political capital shows its economic prowess. Economic activity in the city of Stockholm and its immediate county (of Stockholm) is very strong. The economic indicator for the fourth quarter of 2010 has strengthened for between 33 and 40, the highest figure since the survey started in 2000.
Companies located in the region are seeing a bright future and they continue to increase the number of employees they are prospecting according to an analysis made by the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
The construction industry is a single most powerful driving forced of this growth. Motor vehicle sales and consulting are the next strong vehicles of growth for the region. Employment is expected to remain robust in the first quarter but the problem that will constrict the county and the towns’ growth is housing shortages.
The region continues to high paying jobs, the shortage of affordable housings for young and active entrepreneurs and professionals will be a factor that would slow the growth of the region.
However, the expansion of the construction sector is an indication of the fact that the problem is being looked upon as a matter of urgency.
