Southern Stockholm plunged to darkness with 23,000 without power

Thursday, 05 January 2012
A power failure has affected much of southern Stockholm during the morning.
Approximately 23,300 customers in Hägersten, Fruängen, Långbro, Mälarhöjden, Bredäng and Aspudden are affected by the disruption, according to energy company Fortum.

The blackout is determined to have been caused by a fault in a substation in Västertorp. Still no information on when the problem is expected to be fixed.

Earlier on Thursday morning, the Stockholm Metro Red Line in southern Stockholm was stopped as a result of power outage. Replacement buses will be provided to serve the traffic of the affected areas.
By 8 30 local time, the underground traffic once again resumed.
