Record number of Swedish dollar millionaires

The number Swedish dollar millionaires rose last year to a record 60,900. Good stock market and increased savings in Sweden, is said to be among the reasons to the explosion of the wealthy Swedes.

The increase in Sweden which is see as at a record high - just over 26 percent, puts Sweden in fifth place on the world charts of countries with rapid growth in the number of dollar millionaires, according to the annual study of World Wealth Report made by the companies Capgemini and Merrill Lynch.


On the list, Hong Kong emerges on top, followed by Vietnam and Poland. For Sweden the good stock market performance, growth of GDP and the increase in savings as reasons for the rapid growth.

Even globally, rich list is still headed by the U.S.A then followed by others such as, Japan and Germany. Women and younger people are on the rise in the wealthy group, but still 73 percent of global millionaires men (in Europe 83 per cent). The majority of millionaires are between 46 and 65.

To qualify as U.S. dollar millionaire you should have at least equivalent to one million dollars in investable assets, excluding the value of homes and collectibles.
