Norwegian bankers call off strike

Tuesday, 07 June 2011
Norwegian bankers succeeded to call off their propose strike that was supposed to be raging on now as we reported yesterday.
Reports hold that negotiators of the Norwegian Bankers association agreed on to push on overtime till Tuesday morning. At two thirty, they reached a settlement that helped to abrogate the strike of 15 500 bank employees.

It's been a long and tough night. The hardest point was an agreement on skills development for employees in the financial industry, said the national mediator Kari Gjesteby news agency NTB.
“We have received an acceptable result. It has been tough, but we are happy to avoid a strike which naturally would have consequences for many, "said union leader Jorunn Berland

“Agreement on wage assessment related to capacity building is a victory in itself,” she adds and continues that now they’ll start working between elected representatives and local management to establish specific guidelines. Relevant expertise is also to be able to provide good opportunities for future pay and career development.
