New Danish- German border control put on hold for long blamed on administrative factors

The enhanced customs control on the Danish border crossings would not begin as planned on 1 June.
The project with video surveillance and day crewing with customs officials at some border crossings has in fact run into administrative problems and has been indefinitely postponed, according to reports from Danish - German news sources.

One specific problem relating that is impending approved document which is currently in the Finance Committee, according to the Treasury Ministry press department. It is the amount for the extended customs control which needs to be approved, and it remains uncertain when it will happen.

“We currently do not know when the Finance Committee takes a decision, making customs checks will now be delayed until the Finance Committee comes back,” said the Danish Treasury Ministry press department to a newspaper Flensburg Avis, operating in Germany.

The new border crossing to be contracted entails, among other things, will include a new customs buildings at four Danish-German border crossings, namely in Semen at highway border in Froslev and border crossings in Padborg and Kruså.
