Latvian deficit on the way down
Wednesday, 17 November 2010
Latvia's government expects to bring the budget deficit by year's estimated 8.5 percent of GDP to below 6 percent in 2011, which are the foreign lenders’ ceilings.
"We are moving towards a fiscal deficit of 5.6 percent (of GDP), not 6 percent, which means that we are just below the highest level," said Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis in a TV interview.
In 2012 Latvia is aiming at under 3 percent of GDP in fiscal deficit.
