Increase births in Sweden – breaking low birth trend

Swedish population grew according to latest data on the population for the first half of 2011. The data show that the population increase continues to grow at the same rate as previously registered in which by the 30th of June the Swedish population amounted to 9 446 812 inhabitants, reports statistic Sweden

During all of the 2000s births have continuously increased, but during the first six months roughly 2 700 fewer children were born compared to the same period last year. In addition, Statistics Sweden's national forecast shows that somewhat fewer children will be born over the coming years.

Between January and June, 56 685 children were born while 45 522 persons died, resulting in a birth surplus of 11 163 for the first half of this year.
