How expanding Entrepreneurship is transforming the Swedish work ethicsThursday, 28 April 2011
There is new culture brewing in Sweden these days. It is the culture of entrepreneurship where almost every working person in this country wants to start their worn business. Some have the ideas but have no knowledge on how to take the plunge. Sensitization is the next buzz word on the street of Gothenburg.
In Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city and the seat of many industrial works, - Volvo, Ericsson, SKF, and the likes, it is quantified that there would be an increase of about 30 percent of new business start-ups in the coming years. This is base on the growing interest shown by would-be entrepreneurs. There are two things that might keep some people’s enthusiasm in taking the initiatives to the background - fear of taking risks, and lack of information on how to go about it.
Authorities are now touring Gothenburg and encouraging people to join the entrepreneurship train. Now tour buses and invitation for caf meeting on businesses is attracting more.
During the first quarter of 2011, 1515 new companies where established in Gothenburg. This represents a 29.4 percent compared with first quarter 2010, according to the organisation, Nyfretagarcentrum (NFC) that deals with new start-ups.
NFC is now working hard to get more people to take the plunge and start their own business.
This has made NFC to start making a tour to the centre of the city on Thursday 28 April with advisers and experts on entrepreneurship. During the day it will hold seminars and caf meetings.
“New businesses are increasing in Gothenburg and throughout Sweden, and the interest in starting their own business is better now than ever. Therefore we are meeting in the ‘new business week’, thousands of people to assist and give them tips, advice, inspiration and tools they need, "said Mats Evergren, Marketing Manager of NFC Sweden, in a statement.
