Finns are working less and less and spending more time on social media
Thursday, 15 December 2011
The amount of hours Finns use at work has declined and leisure has increased. This is based on a recent survey result published by Finnish Statistics office today.
A general assumption is that work takes more and more of people’s time but according to Statistics Finland’s data, that is not the case. The prevailing perception of stressed parents who maintain contact with their children via cell phone is not the whole truth.
Time spent on bring up that child has increased since the late 1980s. Traditionally, women have attended most to the housework. The situation has not changed significantly, but the men do, more household chores than before.
Nowadays Finns place a lot of time to spend in social media. Studies on Finnish time use have been made every ten years since the late 1970s. The information from the fresh survey has been collected over the past two years.
