Finnish exports of phones to France collapsed by 69 percent in 2011, according to fresh figures from the National Board of Customs. The value of phone exports to France stood at 48 million euros last year, whereas in 2008 it topped 300 million.
Finland’s exports to France have generally failed to recover since the global recession. Last year, the total value of exports to France was about 1.8 billion euros, which is one percent less than the year before.
Imports from France fell as well, dropping three percent. Car imports suffered a particular drop. France accounted for 17 percent of Finnish car imports in 2002, whereas last year that figure was 8 percent.
On the other hand, Finns favour France as an importer of alcoholic beverages, with the country holding a 23-percent share of Finland’s imports.
