Finland’s Gross domestic product grew by 5.5 percent per annum

Finnish Gross domestic product grew in January to March by 5.5 percent over the corresponding period last year.
From the previous quarter, GDP grew by 0.8 percent, reports Statistics Finland which also stated on Friday that last year's fourth quarter GDP figures was 1.8 percent. Last year's October-December GDP grew by 5.5 percent over a year earlier. The previous quarter, growth was 1.8 percent.


During the first quarter, exports have declined from the previous quarter, but increased from the year before. In March last year exports also decreased. Export volumes fell by 4.8 percent from the previous quarter but increased by 15.9 percent over the previous year. Imports increased by 2.2 percent from the previous quarter and by 11.9 percent from the year before.

The volume of private consumption rose in the first quarter by 0.1 percent sequentially and up 2.3 percent from the year before. Investments grew by 2.6 percent from the previous quarter and up 9.8 percent from the year before.
