Few Europeans choose Denmark as relaxing holidays destination. It is painful for not being chosenWednesday, 18 May 2011
Denmark is by no means top of wish list when their European friends plan their vacation.
Actually, Denmark has emerged one of the least desired holiday destinations in Europe, according to a new study by the European Commission.
How painful could it be for not being chosen especially when rivals Sweden is seen as a top holidays destination
The study which looks at the attitude of European towards tourism, just under half a percent of all Europeans surveyed who are planning to abroad really think of Denmark during 2011 – Mostly those make up he half a percent are the Danes who chose to remain at home during the holidays.
The question whether the effect is caused by poor marketing or Danish negative anti immigration rhetoric which is biting back.
The Danish Chamber of Commerce believed that it is disappointing that Denmark does not appear on the list of Europeans' favourite destinations.
“I am particularly concerned that a number of the countries we usually compare ourselves with, not least Sweden, lies well above Denmark in the study,” says Morten Brustad, market director of the Danish Commerce.
The study also shows that it is actually only the Scandinavians and Austrians who prioritize sun and beaches as paramount when choosing a holiday destinations. What really means is that people go on vacation to have the ability to relax.
“The question is whether we are sufficiently skilled at marketing. It lovely when going on holiday in Denmark, says Morten Brustad.
