A new scandal has broken out on the Swedish horse racing sport which is the talk in various big money places right now. It emerge that three horses under the control of trotting coach Nils Enqvist have been tested positive for doping.
The Swedish trotting, Svensk travsport announced on Thursday that needles and syringes were found during an unannounced visit to Enqvist's house May 2 and that the trainer will be reported to the police.
In the press release Swedish horses trotting, write that Freedom Viking and Viking Thunderstorm left traces of the anabolic steroid, stanozolol, while Diamond Viking samples showed the presence of the analgesic metacarbomol.
In connection with the investigation, syringes and needles were found in the garbage in amateur coach Nils Enqvist’s stables. Contents of these residues were analyzed and four cases showed content of stanozolol.
“I think everyone in trotting racing, like me, will feel a deep gloom with this type of information” said the Swedish Trotting Secretary-General Ulf H�rnberg in the press release.
Freedom Viking and Viking Thunder Storm would immediately be grounded, and this could lead to at least a two years ban until after the horses would be tested negative of stanozolol. Other horses owned or trained by Coach Nils Enqvist are forbidden to take part in the competition until they produce the negative doping tests results required.
“We have for many years tested horses for anabolic steroids, but this is the first time we found the doping substance in Swedish trotting and it is extremely serious, continues,” H�rnberg.
Swedish Trotting also announces that it will report the matter to the Police.
