Denmark: a no non sense country for driving and talking on the phone as 42 000 penalised for the crime

Thursday, 16 February 2012

In some countries simple laws such as “no talking a mobile device while driving” is taken lightly but not in Denmark. Here is you are caught talking on the phone while driving the penalty is swift and heavy.

Last year 42 000 motorists were fined for talking on a cell phone without hands free, representing a doubling in four years.

Meanwhile, statistics from the Danish Automobile Association show fewer fatalities on Danish roads as a result of the clamp down

In Sweden, there are calls for the authorities to harden their stance so that Sweden should start monitoring mobile phone use in traffic and require that hands-free should be the alternative.
It should be noted that many other European countries already do this but Sweden is resisting the idea of clamping down of motorists who drive and talk on the phone without a hands-free device.
