Criminal aliens to be thrown out of Denmark as from today after Voting on Friday confirms

Friday, 24 June 2011
Today Denmark voted through Integration Minister Soren Pind’s bill to send all non-Danish citizens sentenced to prison be deported, no matter how much punishment they have been sentenced to.

Søren Pind, want that Danish courts will try to expel as many as possible, even if there is a risk that Denmark violates international conventions.

Initially, it was up to prosecutors to request that a person must be expelled. But with this proposal makes it that people will be automatically expelled when the commit a crime and are sentenced.

According to Karen Haekkerup of the Danish Social Democrats, the proposal does not change in practice and therefore her party supported the deal.
“It is clear that an alien who had committed criminal acts should be expelled from Denmark,” said Martin Henriksen of the Danish People's Party, which also favoured the proposal, endorsed by 97 persons against seven in Denmark today.

Experts warned that Denmark could be reported for violation of international conventions.
