Calls for Danish rule on non foreign ownership of holiday home to be changes

Saturday, 30 July 2011
Foreigners have not been allowed to buy holiday homes in Denmark. So has it been since Denmark joined the EU many years ago. The country had a separate provision because it was afraid that the country would be invaded by the Germans in particular.

But now a narrow majority of Danes want that the rules be amended to allow foreigners to buy houses in the country. 49 percent believe the law should be changed, while 44 percent think it is good as it is. Seven percent has no opinion.
Times have changed and there is peace in Europe. There is also the freedoms and unions so it make no sense restricting foreign ownership in Danish holiday home sector.
