Assange allowed to appeal to Supreme Court for a chance not to be extradited to Sweden

Monday, 05 December 2011
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has won the right to petition the UK Supreme Court in his fight against extradition to Sweden, reports the BBC.

He lost a High Court battle last month to halt his removal for questioning over alleged sex offences and made the application to the UK's highest court.
Judges refused Mr Assange permission to appeal to the Supreme Court but said the case raised "a question of general public importance". Details here from the BBC
