American exercise military mine might have floated ashore to Sweden

Sunday, 11 December 2011
A mine was found in the Swedish shore of Hanhals in northern Halland areas of Sweden yesterday and it is a foreign one. Now one knows where might have come from but suspicion is rife that it might have been an American practice mine.

Where it comes from is unclear but likely it is believed that it might have been blown in within the last days and nights of high winds.

The mine is believed to be about five years old. Marine Technical Staff at the Swedish defence will now investigate and defuse the mine, which probably contain only very small amounts of explosives.

To be on the safe side, the defence has mounted a major roadblock, and invites those who live nearby to stay indoors and stay away from windows.
