Swedish finance minister Anders Borg congratulates French president elect HollandeMonday, 07 May 2012
Just a few weeks ago, the Swedish Prime Minister, Fredrik Reinfeldt (Conservative) warned of growing uncertainty in European economy, because of the plan presented by French presidential candidate Francois Hollande during his campaign as a Socialist candidate.
But after the victory yesterday of the socialist, the Swedish Finance Minister Anders Borg (Concervative) feel no concern as majority of French people have now voted Hollande as their new president.
Borg sees him as a long-term politician, interested in putting pubic finances in order and to focus on good co-operation in Europe.
"The contacts I have had with people involved in economic policy in France say the incoming government will be pragmatic European Social Democrats who take responsibility as part of the European system, "said Borg, who does not believe that Hollande will require a renegotiation of the European fiscal pact.
It might, according to Borg be more about trying to get the European Investment Bank to act more actively in the EU to support growth.
