Swedish central bank, Riksbank leaves rates unchangedWednesday, 18 April 2012
The Swedish central banks or the Riksbank chose to leave its key interest rate, the repo rate unchanged at 1.5 percent today. It was in line with expectations but other forecasters anticipate a lower interest rate at year end.
The reason for the development has to do with the lower and weaker pace of growth in the economy. The Riksbank was also now clear that the low rate of interest will be for a long time.
But other forecasters have suggested that the economy has such a very low growth rate and that the Riksbank can and should cut rates more and may fall below 1 percent.
