The notes from secret talks with Saudi Arabia sent in an unencrypted e-mail via a private hotmail account of an under-secretary at the Swedish Department of Defense.
The email passed through servers in several countries before reaching recipients in Stockholm who are a colleague in the ministry, a foreign Department official, the Director General of the Inspectorate of Strategic Products (ISP) and a high FOI officer.
The road was wide open for the email to have leaked to foreign intelligence services, writes the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter.
