Weak orders for Swedish industry

The Swedish industry's total new orders, seasonally adjusted in terms of volume, fell 1.8 percent in October, compared with the month before.

According to estimates from Statistics Sweden, new orders from domestic market fell 1.2 percent, while export orders fell 2.2 percent.


Compared with the same month last year, total new orders were up by 5.0 percent including calendar effects. The domestic market fell 0.4 percent and export orders fell 8.2 percent.

During the three month period through October, orders declined for the industrial sector by 2.0 percent overall, compared to the previous three months.

Industry sub-sectors showed a mixed development in October compared with September. The weakest performance was for the Electronics industry and Electrical equipment industry while the Industry for other transport equipment is developing strongly. During the last three months (Aug-Oct) the total of new orders decreased by 2.0 percent compared with the previous three months period.

The figures for October are preliminary. Since the previous publication, the change in new orders in total between September and August, revised down by 0.4 percentage points to a decline of 1.3 percent. The change in new orders from September this year and the same month last year has been revised down by 0.6 percentage points to a rise of 1.1 percent.
