Substantial increase in new vehicle registration in Sweden in August

In August, 24,368 new passenger cars were registered in Sweden new figures show supporting the views that Swedes where still spending more on durable goods.

Bil Sweden, the organisation in Sweden that keeps these records of car registration, reports that there was an increase of 8.9 percent from the same month last year in the amount of new cars registered.

So far this year 201,031 new cars have been registered in Sweden, an increase of 11.2 percent over the corresponding period last year.


Leading position among passenger cars is the Volvo V 70 II with 13,872 registrations so far this year, compared with 16,420 during the same period last year. Second is the Volkswagen Passat with 9558 compared with 8573 same time last years and on the third place with Volkswagen Golf 8923 against 8929 same time a year ago.

Registrations of heavy trucks of 16 tons and over grew by 45.8 percent to 347 items in Sweden in August, compared to the same month last year, according to figures from Bil Sweden.
For Volvo, there were increased registrations of heavy trucks by 33.0 percent to 153 vehicles, while Scania reported a rise of 33.7 percent for the 135
For the new light trucks under 3.5 tons, registration increased 34.2 percent. For large buses over 10 tons, registrations increased by 8.2 percent to a total of 158 item.
