Slight fall in new Swedish industry orders in April

New orders to Swedish industry decreased by 0.1 percent from March to April, according to preliminary figures from Statistics Sweden (SCB).
Compared with April last year, orders rose by 9.2 percent in March calendar effects.
Domestic orders rose by 0.4 percent from March to April. New orders for the export market dropped as much.

New orders showed a mixed development of the industry sub-sectors in April compared to March. The industry of electrical equipment had the most negative development with a decrease of 24.1 percent. During the last three-month period (February-April) total new orders increased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous three-month period.

From the domestic market new orders increased by 0.4 percent during April compared to March, after a decrease of 2.7 percent during March compared to February. During the last three-month period new orders increased by 0.9 percent compared to the previous three-month period.
New orders from the export market decreased by 0.4 percent during April compared to March, after an increase of 3.4 percent during March compared to February. During the last three-month period new orders increased by 1.2 percent compared to the previous three-month period.
On an annual basis new orders continue to grow favourably, and total new orders increased by 9.2 percent during April. The corresponding comparison in the domestic market results in an increase of 3.7 percent and the export market an increase of 13.1 percent.
The figures for April are preliminary. Since the previous publication the change in new orders in March compared to February has been revised downwards by 0.2 percentage points to an increase of 0.9 percent. The change in new orders between March 2011 and the same month of the previous year has been revised downwards by 0.4 percentage points to an increase of 8.0 percent.
