The Nordic stock markets ended on Monday down, like the rest of Europe, after the previous day's relative calm before the chance for a solution to America's impending financial crisis. This is given the disappointing note from the U.S. purchasing managers' index in July.

At 17:40 o'clock in Stockholm, the OMXN40 was down 2.2 percent and the index does not include Norwegian shares.
In Helsinki the OMXH25 was down 3.3 percent. All companies in the index were down. Neste Oil and Metso weighed were all trading at a decline of 6.8 and 6.9 percent.
Oslo OBX Index was down 1.5 percent. Lower rates for commodity transport put pressure on shipping companies. Frontline dropped 5.5 percent.

Copenhagen Stock Exchange's OMXC20 index was down 0.5 percent. On the upside, there were drugs and biotechnology. H Lundbeck rose 0.8 percent. Vestas weighed with a decline of 1.8 percent.
