New construction of multi-dwelling buildings continues to rise

During the first six months of 2011, construction began for about 9 550 dwellings, an increase of 8 percent compared to the same period last year (2010: 8 879 dwellings).

Construction began on a total of 13 700 dwellings during the first half of 2011, of which 4 150 were dwellings in one- or two-dwelling buildings. Compared to the same period last year, dwellings in one- or two-dwelling buildings have decreased by 4 percent (2010: 4 340 dwellings).
To make it easier to compare between years, the figures for 2011 are adjusted upwards by 31 percent, which is the average time lag in reporting in recent years.
