Fewer car registrations in Sweden in January

The amount of new cars registered in Sweden in January 2012 stood at 18 686 new passenger cars, according to industry organization Bil Sweden, representing a decrease of 2.1 percent from the same month last year.


The number of registered green vehicles increased in January by 24.2 percent and amounted to 7 506 items.  The number of newly registered diesel cars increased by 8.3 percent in January.

"Passenger car registrations in January stand in line with our forecast of 270,000 new cars this year. Calculated on an annual basis is January, the registrations is more that forecast," writes Bertil Molden, CEO of BIL Sweden in a statement.

Leading position among passenger cars in January, was taken by Volvo with its V70II recorded 1503 items (last year 1099), followed by VW Passat 1414 (606), Volvo V60 711 (819), VW Golf 640 (1074), Volvo V50 598 (525 ).

In January some 3072 trucks were registered.
