Credit Card Fraud increasingly common in Sweden

Nearly one out of ten Swedes has been exposed to a sort f scam over the past year, according to a poll conducted by pooling organisation, Sifo, commissioned Swedish television.


Skimming as known in Sweden is a form of credit card fraud in which a special scanner is used to copy the contents of the magnetic stripe of a good card to a counterfeit credit card.

Of over 1100 respondents in the survey 8 percent said they themselves or the bank had to cancel their credit cards due to fraud or fraud attempts.
