Norwegian terrorist attacks led to increased media consumption in country

The terrorist attacks in Oslo and the mass killing at Ut�ya increased media consumption among the Norwegian population as never seen before.

News papers such as VG which was already popular saw its online network traffic exploded Network breaking all previous records with over 1, 6 million unique visitors in one day.

There was also increased TV viewing and newspaper reading which also exploded widely, according to the Norwegian newspaper, Aftenposten on its website.

When it comes to sales figures of a newspaper Dagbladet, that increased by 50 percent and VG's 23 percent.

This shows that there was an enormous need for information as a direct consequence of such a tragic event, according to Tor Jacobsen, CEO of VG, to the Norwegian newspaper Dagens N�ringsliv.

Traffic on Dagbladet's web site increased by 570,000 users to 740,000 users.
Viewing figures in the Norwegian television, NRK, also rose sharply. News broadcasts in connection with the attacks were seen by three times as many people compared to a conventional transmission.
