Denmark chasing Russian energy billions

By 2015, trade in energy between Denmark and Russia would have grown by 300 percent from Dkr1.1 billion today to Dkr3.3 billion in four years, while the Russian energy consumption will fall lowered.

So cash is the objective of the new cooperation between Denmark and Russia, which was signed on Thursday in connection with the Danish state visit to Russia.

“The new cooperation between Russia and Denmark are very much that there will be action behind the two countries' agreements in the form of new orders and jobs here at home,” says CEO of Industry Foundation, Mads Lebech in a statement.

The Industry Fund, together with companies such as BWE, FLS, Grundfos, Logstor, Ramboll and Vestas have funded collaboration known as Russian-Danish Energy Efficiency Centre.
It will be anchored in the two countries' energy agencies.

From the Russian side, there is also joy in that it now becomes a platform, such that Danish technology can be utilized optimally in the Russian market, where the goal of President Dmitry Medvedev is to increase efficiency by 40 percent.

“The center is the best practical way to develop a partnership that can benefit both countries in the form of innovation, energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy.
Denmark is the world leader in energy efficiency, and therefore we are excited to join such a project,” says Department Nelly Segizova, from the Russian energy agency in a statement.

The collaboration is just one of several large contracts that have fallen into place under the ongoing Danish state visit to Russia.
Earlier this week, the Danish export ambassador, Mariann Fischer Boel signed an agreement which include an agreement to form an Agri Business Club, which will ensure increased trade in the agricultural sector.
