How the Southern Swedish region of Skåne lost Skr130 million as a result of DSB fiasco Saturday, 28 January 2012
We reported extensively last year about how the DSB-First rail operator which runs from Denmark to Sweden went down. As the true cost of that fiasco has come to fore now, it shows how the southern region of Sweden – skåne has suffered intense looses.
AdvertisementThe failure of the DSB and First Öresund trains will be expensive for Swedish Region Skåne, which allocates about Skr 130 million extra to Skånetrafiken to cover the costs of allowing Veolia to take over the train operations, writes the paper, Skånska Dagbladet.
To add to the pain, it presents Skånetrafiken a deficit of Skr115 million for 2011. The abolition of the cash purchase of tickets on buses and trains cost more than expected, more travel guarantees were settled out while cheating rose sharply.
