Swedes stealing most of the Nordic countries as baby cloths and meat attract more thieves

Forget the hype! The Swedes shoplift more in the Nordics as shopliftings in Swedish stores have been accounted to be on the increases. Total stuff stolen from stores hit Skr6.4 billion each year.
As such, in comparison, Sweden has the largest losses when compared to the Nordic region and Skr 6.4 billion is the highest figure since 2007, according to the annual survey the company, Checkpoint Systems commissioned in 43 countries during the period July 2010 to June 2011.

The value of the theft in stores by thieves is nearly 50 percent, while employee theft accounts for almost 30 percent.
"A shoplifter takes little things while an employee stealing big things ", says Jan Pilt, Sales Manager at Checkpoint Systems, Sweden.

This means looses per shoplifting opportunity is about Skr886, while an employee steals Skr13,000 per occasion. These are smaller looses in that way but supplier theft and administrative errors share remain significantly higher.

"Administrative errors are for example, incorrect invoices, "explains Jan Pilt.
The study is shows a shrinkage of 1.4 percent of Swedish store turnover.
Most vulnerable in these days are shops that sell accessories and cosmetics. Other popular items for shoplifters are meat and cheese, baby clothes, perfumes and computer games, the survey shows.
