In late March, VolvoCar Corporation announced that they needed to hire 1,200 people, including 900 engineers to Gothenburg. But it's not enough to meet demand. Now, there is the need to increase production and as such more people are needed to help in meeting that.

About 600 people will be hired as new employees, including 250 in Torslanda, 75 in Floby and in Skvde and 100 in Gent, Belgium. In Olofstrm there is the need for 200 people, in addition to the 100 being recruited now.

”At this moment, we are selling all that we can manufacture - the Volvo XC60, V60 and S60. Now we have to invest further to meet increasing demand, "said Volvo CEO, Stefan Jacoby in a statement.

Volvo plans to increase production rate from the current 52 cars per hour to 57.  During the first quarter of 2011 Volvocars made a profit of Skr 640 million.
