Turkey wants to buy Saab Automobile
Tuesday, 20 December 2011
The Turkish government's embassy in Stockholm has been in contact both with the Swedish  Ministry of Industry and head of Saab Automobile and expressed interest in buying the company.

“Turkey has a very strong interest in increasing knowledge in the automotive industry, to increase investment in the automotive industry, and they intend to become one of the big bill ducks in Europe,” says Lars Holmqvist, CEO of CLEPA, the trade association that organizes automotive suppliers in Europe to Swedish television.

There are many car factories in Turkey, but it has no own brands, which the Turkish government now wants to remedy. What it comes down to is that above all to dig their hands in modern technology. The Turkish government is, like many others, are not interested in the Trollhattan factory.

“No matter whom it is who will buy all or part of Saab's facilities, it is unfortunately very little chance that it will remain in Trollhattan. I think that in this case it would be moved to their respective countries, says Lars Holmqvist.
