TeliaSonera invests Skr8 billion in expanding Fibre optic internet connections most in Sweden

Telia Sonera will invest Skr8 billion in fibre – optic networks by 2014. Of these, Skr5 billion is to be invested in Sweden.

CEO Lars Nyberg made these revelations at the company's Capital Market day on Tuesday. Throwing more details into the plan, it holds that in 2011, the company will increase the number of fibre - optic connected households to 2.3 million in the Nordic and Baltic countries, of which 1 million of them will be in Sweden.

Nyberg reiterated the company’s outlook for 2011 on sales growth in local currencies and excluding acquisitions, of approximately 3 percent.
Nyberg also confirmed that the company will not put any bid on the Polish mobile operator Polkomtel.
"We have done our homework thoroughly, weighed the pros and cons and decided not to bid. In view of the company, the sellers and the current process, we will not comment on it further," he said.

Telia Sonera chief also said that they have agreed with Telenor on network sharing in Denmark. The agreement includes networks in 2 G, 3 G and 4 G operations.
"Together we will create Denmark's best mobile network," said Nyberg.
