Swedish Pharmacy, Apotek Hjärtat lowers price on Viagra
Thursday, 24 November 2011
A Swedish Pharmacy, Apotek Hjärtat, cuts its price on Viagra, as shown in the price comparison sin various individual pharmacies in the country.

This also follows a large price differences between different pharmacy chains in Sweden highlighted in a recent review. "We want the same price as everyone else," says Erika Burlingame Hellman, Acting Press Officer of Apotek Hjärtat.

The new price is Skr754 for 12 tablets of 25mg, which is the same price as in the pharmacy shops of state owned Apoteket AB and Medstop.

Drugs for other important pharmaceuticals will be beneficial if their prices remain the same as these prices are determined centrally.

Meanwhile Apoteket AB opens up many new pharmacies to maintain market share, but has come under criticism from competitors who believe that the Company is using its push by the government to maintain a dominant position in the market.

Now, the Government will investigate how large Apoteket AB pharmacy is and must be. Since the pharmacy monopoly was removed in 2009, Apoteket has opened 51 new pharmacies, according to the paper, Dagens Apotek.
Apoteket AB measures the market share in the number of pharmacies. Measured that way, the market share declined slightly from the previous 35 percent of the stores because many new pharmacies have opened in Sweden.
