Sweden's industrial production fell in August

Industrial production decreased by 3.1 percent in seasonally adjusted figures in August compared to July.

Comparing August with the same month of the previous year, industrial production increased by 5.6 percent in working day adjusted figures, according to statistic Sweden.

The production decreased in most of the industry sub-sectors. The largest change was in the wood industry with a decrease of 26.7 percent.
Also when comparing the latest three month period, June-August, with the previous three month period, the development was negative. Production within industry decreased by 1.4 percent.

Industrial production increased by 5.6 percent in August compared with the same month of the previous year, although the trend of weaker development on a yearly basis continued. As in previous months the strongest development was in the electrical equipment industry with an increase of 42.3 percent.

The transport equipment industry and the industry for non-metallic mineral products are other sub-sectors where the increase was relatively high.  
 
The figures for August are preliminary. Since the previous publication the change in industrial production in July compared to June has been revised downwards by 0.5 percentage points amounting to an increase of 2.3 percent.  The change in the production in July compared to the same month of the previous year has been revised downwards by 0.5 percentage points amounting to an increase of 7.7 percent.
