Swedish Internet entrepreneurs have received over Skr1.6 billion from international investors on a quarterly basis pushing strongly the idea that the internet boom which crashed in Sweden in the dying years of the 2000s left behind a strong creativity continuity.
According to various authorities and the Swedish media sources, Swedish companies are extremely hot on the market right now.
On of the players of this creativity continuity is Sebastian Siemiatkowski who founded the internet payment system known as Klarna. He and co-founder Niklas Adalberth and Victor Jacobson were just before Christmas received two new major shareholder, private equity firms DST Global and General Atlantic. These share holders came in with just over Skr1 billion.
AdvertisementInterests in the Swedish internet businesses have attracted other investors such as Facebook, Twitter, Groupon and Chinese Alibaba.
Thanks to, among other things Spotify and Klarna as well as other, the interest in Swedish Internet entrepreneurs is growing big in the world again.
Heavyweights in venture capital, such as index, Sequoia, Accel and Balderton have all recently invested in the Swedish market.
"Previously it was very difficult to find international co-investors, but now they are actively searching for items here in Sweden, "says Pär-Jörgen Persson, partner in the Swedish private equity firm North Zone to the Swedish business daily Dagens Industri. North Zone was among other early investors in Spotify.
