Stena Ferry to be run by wind power and to cut fuel consumption

Stena Line has equipped its ferry Stena Jutlandica with two wind turbines in the bow.
A unique design that will produce power for the ship's electricity grids, corresponding to four normal family home’s annual consumption of household electricity.

The turbines, which together with its three blades propeller rises eight feet above the deck, which also sees to it that air resistance is reduced.

The move is being described to reduce the vessel's fuel consumption by up to 90 tonnes of bunker fuel per year.
