Slight increase in new orders for swedish industries in August

New orders for Swedish industry decreased by 0.5 percent in seasonally adjusted figures in August compared to July.
When comparing August of this year and the same month of the previous year, new orders increased by 9.0 percent in working day adjusted figures, report statistic Sweden.

The industry sub-sectors showed a mixed development in August compared to July. The most negative development was seen in the transport equipment industry with a decrease of 21.3 percent. The electrical equipment industry had the most positive development with an increase of 141.4 percent. During the last three-month period (June-August) new orders in total decreased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous three-month period.

From the domestic market new orders increased by 0.4 percent in August compared to July, after a decrease of 2.8 percent in July compared to June. During the last three-month period new orders decreased by 0.5 percent compared to the previous three-month period.

New orders from the export market decreased by 1.1 percent in August compared to July, after an increase of 2.9 percent in July compared to June. During the last three-month period new orders decreased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous three-month period.

On annual basis new orders in total increased. In August new orders increased by 9.0 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The corresponding comparison in the domestic market results in an increase of 3.0 percent and the export market an increase of 13.6 percent.

The figures for August are preliminary. Since the previous publication the change in new orders in July compared to June has been revised downwards by 0.1 percentage points to an increase of 0.5 percent. The change in new orders between July of this year and the same month of the previous year has not been revised and remains at an increase of 0.4 percent.
