The financial problems of Saab Automobile are far from solved. As such the company’s management is faced with a decision on a major staff reduction in Trollhttan, Sweden.

The numbers of employees are currently about 3500. Production volume is half of what was stated in the business plan, according to Swedish business daily, Dagens Industri.

"It is clear that it has an effect on staffing. Simply, one can say that it is about to be divided by two, "said one source familiar with the Saab Automobile's activities to Dagens Industri.

"But really it would be a great move because there is an intense development within the company, which requires a lot of staff, "adds the source.

Saab gives no clear answer to questions about staffing and layoffs. The view is that with money from China and Gemini, and with Vladimir Antonov moving into position of company ownership, it is convinced that the company would be back to a stable operation position.

Vladimir Antonov is expected to within a few months, to push in at least Skr1.5 billion to secure the Saab's long-term financial needs.
