After the Debt Office, gave the green light yesterday to that Antonov can become a part owner of Saab Automobile, the government has now been challenge to act swiftly thereafter.

According to the head of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in the western Sweden, Johan Trouv,  there is no reason whatsoever for the government to wait. “Now they have to take a real hold of the issue and immediately go out and approve Antonov as the owner of Saab,” said Johan Trouv.

Since the Debt Office's director, Bo Lundgen, yesterday called for a press conference and said they now accepted the Russian financier, Vladimir Antonov as shareholders of Spyker Cars, which in turn owns Saab Automobile, Maud Olofsson, the minister of indutries said she is now waiting for a decision from the European Investment Bank, EIB, before she gives the thumbs up.

Speaking to radio Sweden yesterday, she said that “now that the Debt Office has made their decision, the government will wait for GM's final decision and also the EIB's decision is final. It determines whether it is meaningful for the Government to make a decision, "said Maud Olofsson.

But time is pressing, according to Johan Trouv. For Saab, it’s hours and days that count. Therefore it is extremely important that there is speedy decision from the government and that the government should pressurise the Bank to make the same decisions as soon as possible, according to Johan Trouv.
