Nokia overtaken again in the smart phone arena

South Korean mobile phone giant, Samsung has now surpassed passed Nokia in terms of sales of the so-called smart phones according to latest assessment.
It is already a now maxim that Apple has been selling more smart phones than the previous world leader, Nokia.
Bu the latest challenger to Nokia now is Samsung which reports suggest that the company sold during the second quarter 18 to 21 million smart phones, according to estimates from research firm Strategy Analytics.

The assessment was cited by news agency Bloomberg, which analysed that the former number one, Nokia was being overtaken not only by Apple but also by the South Korean company in the sale of smart phones.


Nokia sold 16.7 million smartphones during the quarter. Apple sold 20.3 million iPhones, and the question now is who is the greatest in the profitable segment. The issue may see its response on Friday, when Samsung Electronics will report its quarterly report.

Nokia is still the largest in terms of the overall mobile market. However, Strategy Analytics believes that Samsung in the years is on it way to reach 20 percent market share, compared with 26 percent for the Finn.  Samsung has never been this so close to Nokia, according to Bloomberg.
