Nokia Siemens  lay off  4000 workers to add to the European jobless gloom

Nokia Siemens Network is negotiating with the unions in Germany and Finland on the reduction of staff by more than 4,000, just as the Europeans jobless gloom was not bad enough.

Nokia Siemens says that the goal is 2,900 fewer jobs in Germany and 1200 in Finland. The company's major restructuring programis affecting almost a quarter of the workforce and will save around 1 billion euros, almost Skr9 billion.

Data communications systems provider announced in late November last year to a total of 17,000 employees to be terminated globally.
