Runaway salaried to CEOs in state controlled companies in Gothenburg, Sweden will have to be re-examines as it turns out that they are over paying themselves. It returns out that there is also a growing sense of greed in the Swedish public sector that must be stemmed

According to Gothenburg Posten, employment contracts gives CEOs salaries of the Municipality’s - owned company, Gteborg Energi  a salary of Skr60000 a month. That is a lot and it not considered as acceptable.

Board of the municipality decided at Monday morning's emergency meeting to review the agreement that gives Lennart Hansson, CEO of the subsidiary, Your El, Skr146 000 in salary, to be renegotiated.

His salary is around Skr60,000 more than was usual for the CEOs at the same level in the Gothenburg municipality - owned companies.

The concessional agreement was discovered after the company last spring decided to review all contracts for CEOs and senior management in Gothenburg Energi.

According to authorities, there will now also be a review of how the agreements for managers at lower levels in the organization looks like. Overall, this is about 100 managers.

The trade union representative at Gteborg Energi is troubled by the new pay information. Per Hager is the chairman of Saco Association at Gteborg Energi and he is shocked.

“It is not morally defensible to have such high salaries. I feel very sad that our workplace once again come into focus and in a negative way again this time too. This blackens the entire organization,” says Pr Hager.
